4. What Will Happen At Shorehaven.
Our aim is to make you feel you have made the right choice, the best choiceto get help NOW and from a respected clinic.
Read the brochure called Helping You Find Your Strength and Serenity. The brochure will help you understand how we assess problems, develop a recovery or treatment plan, and provide the care you may need. If the problem involves alcohol or drugs, read the Preparation for AODA Counseling at Shorehaven.
The work we do is called therapy or psychotherapy. You can read about therapy in our flyer What Is Psychotherapy? There are many forms of therapy, but they all come down to techniques of psychology which are designed to help bring about change. We use treatments backed by scientific research.
The process begins with a session devoted to evaluating the causes and effects of the problems you want to change. Much like a doctor, we'll get detailed information about the problems, your past history, and your goals.
After that we'll give you an explanation of the problem and some recommendations.
Then we will schedule times for the therapy to begin. It's so very important to come to every scheduled meeting.
So that's it, you make the call or fax the forms or email us and then we guide you through the rest. We understand both children and adults. We help move people toward greater emotional health. We're your Psychotherapy Specialists.
